Remote Video Monitoring

With this feature you can monitor your site without having to be there. With three ways to do it (Modem, Internet, LAN), you can monitor your site virtually anywhere in the world.

With a modem, all you need is your computer and a modem connected to a phone line. You also need a modem connected to your server. This mode works by having your computer dial directly into the server. It's like dialing up to the internet!

Through an Internet connection you can connect to the server by entering the IP address or even the web address. With the web address you can forget about taking the time to find the IP address. Just enter in your web address, www.rfconcepts.co.uk for example, and get connected! The internet connection method can even save you money because you make a local phone call instead of a long-distance call.

The third method is through your LAN (Local Area Network

Long recording period

With WatchGuard, you don't have to worry about using a traditional VCR and video tape anymore. WatchGuard uses your hard drive to save the video that you record. You can use up to three hard drives to save your video. Combine that with a high compression ration (2000:1) you can record up to 6 months of video! With the sizes of hard drives getting bigger, you will be able to record even longer than that. WatchGuard also includes an overwrite feature that lets you virtually record forever. If your hard drive is full or is getting full, then enabling the overwrite feature tells the computer to continue recording by replacing your oldest video with new video. No more replacing video tapes. Just turn it on and leave it on.

Motion Detection

Watchguard features motion detection that can detect changes within a monitored area. Motion Detection may be the most helpful feature in WatchGuard. Not only can it save hard disk space, by only recording when necessary, it may also save time. Why go through everything that is recorded on a regular video tape? Instead just view the things that are important. All you need to do is just click once on the screen and click again to tell WatchGuard where to monitor. WatchGuard even allows you to select whether or not to record when something is detected. Motion Detection Features include:

1. Trigger Recording:
The Trigger Recording feature allows you to specify how long WatchGuard will record, once a motion is detected. Just enter in how long you want WatchGuard to record, and WatchGuard will take care of the rest.

2. Trigger Audio Alarm:
With its alarm feature, WatchGuard can alert you when something is detected. You have the ability to scare away an intruder or alert others that there is an intruder.

3. Send Email with video:
Your probably asking yourself, "What if an intruder tries to destroy the computer or cameras?" Well we thought of that and here is what we have come up with. Unlike a regular surveillance device, that uses a VCR and video tape, we use a hard drive to store our video. The advantage? Well, an intruder can easily take out the video tape and destroy the evidence. It's a little harder with a hard drive. One of the most important features within Motion Detection is the send email feature. With this feature, you can have WatchGuard record upon motion detection, for a specified time, and WatchGuard will e-mail you telling you that motion has been detected. Also included in the e-mail, is a video file. You can watch the video file and find out who or what triggered the motion detection. So even if an intruder tries to destroy the camera, before he can finish, you will already have received an email with the video as evidence. With WatchGuard, you won't have to worry.

4. Make a Phone Call:
Another WatchGuard feature is the ability to make a phone call. The user specifies a phone number to call and when a motion is detected, WatchGuard automatically calls the preset number along with a prerecorded message. Call your cell phone or your security service provider or anyone. You can even have WatchGuard call the police and have them check things out. Or with this feature combined with the Email feature, you can have WatchGuard call and alert you of a possible intruder. Then check your email to see what is going on. It's just one more way WatchGuard is watching out for you.

Scheduled Recording

With schedule recording, not only can you use WatchGuard to record daily, but you can set a schedule to record once, weekly, or even monthly. You can program it to record anytime and at different times.

Static Picture Capture

Anytime you are using WatchGuard you can create a snapshot of your screen, like a photo camera. The image will have a ".bmp" extension and can be printed out. Not only can they be printed out, but they can also be e-mailed and faxed.

Two Independent DVRs

With WatchGuard, the server and the client are two independent digital video recorders (DVR). This means that the server and client can both record things. Not only that, the client can control the compression ratio, frame rate and image size on server for speed and image quality, and the client also controls which camera to select on the server

Instant Retrieval

Using WatchGuard's instant retrieval feature can save you time and frustration. No more having to press the fast forward button and sitting there waiting for the video to go to the time index you seek, like your regular VCR. Now you can just enter the specific date and/or time you want to see and WatchGuard will instantly go to the time to specified. In the same time it takes you to push the fast forward button, you could be watching the footage you need.

Multi-Tasking

While monitoring video using WatchGuard, you can still use the computer for other tasks, such as sending e-mails, typing documents, and many other things. Just turn on WatchGuard and leave it alone.

Easy to use icon-based interface

With all these features, you might think that WatchGuard would be hard to use. Guess what, it's not. Employing an icon-based interface, its just like using a VCR. If you want to record something, just click the record button. To play a certain file, click play. Other buttons include, pause, forward, rewind, stop, skip back, and skip ahead. Skip back and skip ahead allows you to skip forward or back a specified amount of footage. You can skip seconds or even days.
